"Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." — Philippians 4:8

It is Sunday evening and the week is behind me and it was a good one. The first real tomato came in on Tuesday and I ate it for lunch the way you are supposed to eat the first tomato, which is on white bread with nothing between you and the tomato except salt and mayonnaise and gratitude.

I wrote a letter to Becca on Thursday that I will not send because she already knows everything in it. We talked on the phone Wednesday night and it was one of those conversations where nobody says anything important and everything is important. I do not take that for granted.

Church was ordinary this morning in the way that ordinary church is good. I have started thinking that the ordinary Sundays are the ones that hold the rest up, and I am going to sit with that for a while.

Biscuit is on the rug. The fan is on. The week ahead is nothing special and I am glad of it. There are peaches at the stand on Route 11 and I might go tomorrow. The garden needs weeding but the garden always needs weeding and it can wait until the morning when the window is open and the heat has not found me yet.
