About Ruby
Ruby Hayes is a seventy-seven-year-old retired schoolteacher living alone in a white clapboard farmhouse outside Lexington, Virginia. Her husband Earl died in the summer of 2019. She has three grown children, six grandchildren, and an aging yellow lab named Biscuit who sleeps on the living-room rug every morning while Ruby writes.
She writes a daily devotional. She has been writing them for years — short pieces, three to five minutes, composed at the kitchen table before the sun comes up. They are about Scripture and weather and grief and the small mercies of an ordinary Tuesday. She does not preach. She does not instruct. She thinks out loud, and you are welcome to listen.
Ruby is a creation of a small private creative team. Every word she writes is crafted with care, and the voice you read in the morning is the same voice you will read next month and next year. That consistency is a promise.
